A properly snug harness should be tight enough that you cannot pinch a fold at the child's collar bone, but not so tight that it presses into their skin.
The straps should be snug across the thighs, the chest clip at armpit level, and the straps tightened so that you cannot pinch a horizontal fold in the strap at your child's collarbone.
Rear-facing
Step 1
Loosen Harness:
- While lifting up on Harness Adjuster Tab, pull out on Shoulder Harness Straps
Step 2
Place child in car seat with their back flat against the Seat Back
Step 3
Place child’s arms through Shoulder Harness Straps and position the Straps over child’s shoulders and thighs.
Step 4
Buckle Harness:
- Insert Buckle Tongues into Buckle one at a time. You should hear a click.
- Pull up on tongues to check that they are securely locked.
Step 5
Pull Harness Adjuster Strap to snugly adjust Harness Straps:
- Check that Harness Straps are snug on shoulder and thighs.
- A snug Harness should not allow any slack. It lies in a relatively straight line without sagging. It does not press on the child’s flesh or push the child’s body into an unnatural position.
Step 6
Close Chest Clip and position Chest Clip at armpit level.
Forward-facing
Step 1
Loosen Harness:
- While lifting up on Harness Adjuster Tab, pull out on Shoulder Harness Straps
Step 2
Place child in car seat with their back flat against the Seat Back
Step 3
Place child’s arms through Shoulder Harness Straps and position the Straps over child’s shoulders and thighs.
